History
            Abiding by the Mission of the Royal Treasury Ministry Act, the Comptroller General’s Department was established on October 7th, 1890. Initially named the Accountant-General’s Department, its core mission was to manage the nation’s revenue and expenditure as well as the accounts for the royal assets, in order to ensure careful use of national budget and the country’s optimum benefit.
            The year 1890 was marked as the first milestone in the history of Siamese financial reform with the establishment of a central agency in charge of managing the kingdom’s funds and ensuring a concise and systematic expenditure system with evidence and traceable receipts. This brought happiness to the citizens and prosperity to the modernized nation, together with economic stability to the kingdom.
            Siam came to a point in its history with the change from absolute monarchy to constitutional monarchy in 1932. The Comptroller General’s Department played a vital role during this crucial period when the country was challenged by world politics. The population growth and growth in various economic activities required the Comptroller General’s Department to oversee the flow of revenue and expenditure throughout the country in order to support income-generating activities, which would subsequently contribute to the kingdom’s prosperity.
            The ratchaburi provincial treasury office was in charge of examining and authorising expenditure requests; keeping and selling court stamp; receiving fees and fines delivered from other officials; keeping and selling opium following the regulations of the Excise Department; and disbursing the reserved budget; making accounts for tracking; drawing up the monthly budget to be submitted to the Comptroller General’s Department; transferring money for people; and managing revenue and expenditure and accounting as well as compiling reports for the central office, all of which were to facilitate financial activities of both government offices and people in the regions.

            District, Up until now there are 30 people who have been in the position. The first ratchaburi provincial treasury is Luang Aksorn Sarakit who was in the position in the year 1935.
